Making Magic

I have to face the fact: my house will never be finished. Sorry Sam! (My hubby) – It’s just who I am. Working in the design world and seeing new trends in fabrics, colors, and patterns, I’m always getting new ideas to incorporate in my own home; even if it’s just one element. I see so much every single day and it all changes so fast. There are always new color trends, new fabrics, textures and combinations, finishes, and yes, even wallpaper – IT’S BACK!

What really excites me is taking old designs and modernizing them. Smoothing out the curves of a wing chair and putting a large washed linen fabric on it with a driftwood finish. A wing chair has been around for centuries, but giving it an updated look and placing it in a new environment creates an amazing impact! Transforming: it’s what I do everyday.

When I am meeting with my clients, I get a feel for how they want a space to function and feel. THIS is the moment I wish I could transform as fast as Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, waving my magic wand with a “Bippity, Boppity, Boo!” and show clients a preview of their finished project, because, you see, I can visualize your space long before you do. I have to tell you the story of what I see. Fortunately, I can do that with our Room Idea Boards and if you let me work my magic in your space, it’s a fun adventure and, as the story goes with Cinderella, once she moved into (and redecorated) her castle, she lived happily ever after!

High Point Market Review

The updated bar cart is the HOTTEST item I saw at High Point Market. Finishes ranged from glam gold metallic to more traditional brass. For small space entertaining, add some glasses, snacks, your beverages of choice, and a few friends for an instant party!

Geometric pieces are a fun way to bring in an element that is completely gender neutral and sculptural! Displayed here as a pedestal for a vase, this is a perfect landing spot for a drink beside a floating chair. Small scale pieces like this are a great way to try out a trend without making a huge investment!

Who says that furniture has to be all about function? There are so many great options for bringing art into your home in unexpected ways. This piece showcases a sculpted metal base that is evocative of branching coral in a hot metallic with an on-trend and stylish aged wood top – details that make an entryway landing zone feel extra special!

Color of the Month

I stay up to date on color trends so that you can bring fresh perspectives to your home, whether haute hues, or classic color. Sherwin-Williams has selected their November 2016 Color of the Month: Double Latte. What appears to be a soothing coffee color is actually a neutral beige with a bit of gray mixed in – great for anywhere!

Grays are changing! Warm Grays continue to trend. I saw this everywhere at Market paired with “Greige’s” (Gray and Beige) favorite partner – Blue! Check out some of the examples of this duo in snaps that I captured while attending High Point Market below.

Project of the Month

Kitchen Re-Do with Farmhouse Charm – my client had prime real estate for wow-factor above her kitchen cabinets! With reclaimed wood, thoughtful hardware, and windowpane cabinets with “vintage” glass to show off the client’s collections, character, warmth and history were added to a home built in the 1990s.
